Some “vendanges”, harvests, are carried out in two phases.

Some terrains are situated on the top of the hill where the soils are much shallower and limestone, the sunshine is very important here, the white lime-stones accumulate the heat during the day and give it back in the night. These areas are more exposed to winds, which guarantees exceptionally healthy plants and allows them to obtain the optimal maturity of grape.

The final selection is carried at the end of the harvest to select the best grapes.

THE VARIETIES OF VINE

Only the blends of top quality varieties are used by the Haut de Lalande: merlot, cabernet, syrah, petit verdot for the reds, chardonnay viognier, chasan for the whites.
