LANDSCAPE/ TOPOGRAPHY

Domaine Lalande consists of a great diversity of terrains: the vines are planted on the sloping hills opposite each other. Thus one part of domain is oriented to the West, the other to the East and South East.

In the South the canal forms a natural border to the Domain.

The tops of these slopes have very much limestone and are marked by erosion, mostly due to the wind. At the bottom of these slopes, the soil is a little deeper and the land is more sheltered from the wind. Thanks to this diversity, numerous grape varieties are able to be cultivated, thus enabling the production of a very rich range of wines.

WINE PRODUCING PLANT

Ultra-sophisticated equipment allows us to produce modern wine appreciated by our clients.

50 000 Hectolitres of vats in stainless steel and thermo-regulated » More informations

Stainless steel has the advantage of enabling impeccable sanitary conditions. The thermo-regulation allows us to produce the wine with very precise control of temperature for homogenisation.

From vat to barrel » More informations

A proportion of our wines are aged in barrels, for example Hauts de Lalande.

Un parc d’une centaine de barriques françaises (Seguin Moreaux) nous permet de vinifier à la fois les blancs et les rouges. La durée du passage varie de 6 mois à 24 mois, en fonction de nos cuvées.

Our store, containing hundreds of French barrels (Seguin Moreaux), permit us to make both red and white wines at the same time with ageing in the barrels ranging between 6 and 24 months depending on the particular wine.

Our last investments
Robot mixer « pigeur » Fermentation crust stirrer » More informations

This is driven by a hydraulic piston.

This technique allows us to extract the maximum flavour and concentration from the red wine must.

Tangential filter » More informations

We have recently acquired a tangential filter, which has an organic membrane; this allows us to filter our wines before bottling in one operation instead of the 2 or 3 normal filtering processes. The wine is therefore pumped less and organic qualities are maintained. In addition, waste filtration is non-existent, thus contributing to the preservation of our planet!

‘La Flash Détente’ » More informations

‘La Flash détente’ is a wine making process which allows the extraction of the fruit but leaves the soft and silky tannins in the wine.

The fruit is heated to 70° followed very quickly by cooling to 30° ; the operation helps break down the cells thereby increasing the extraction of the components from the ‘bloom’ on the grape skins ( phenolic compounds, polysaccharides, flavours...).

The bottling plant » More informations

Our bottling plant can meet the requirements of different exports and markets: cork stoppers, plastic, and more recently screw caps.

The speed of our bottling plant is around 6000 bottles per hour.

Our line is equipped with 4 posts allowing traditional adhesive labels.

Our line is equipped to wash, rinse and dry the bottles.

The plant is situated in a room called "the clean room" which is totally sanitised and which allows for cold sterile bottling.

To ensure the continuing development of our sales, the bottling plant employs two teams of 8 people.
